The East West University Agro Industrialization Club recently hosted the fifth edition of the Agro Biz Expo on June 20th and 21st, 2023. This two-day trade fair and exhibition focused on the agricultural and agribusiness sectors, providing a platform for industry professionals, suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to showcase their products, services, and innovations. The event aimed to foster knowledge sharing, networking, and business opportunities within the agricultural community.
The Agro Biz Expo was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser of East West University, along with esteemed guests including Dr. Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, Nahid Hassan Khan, Advisor, DSW and Head of CCC, Estiaque Bari, Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics, and Moumita Haque Shenjutee, Lecturer, Department of English. After the inauguration ceremony, the guests explored the fair and engaged in fruitful discussions with vendors, while students eagerly visited various stalls to learn about agricultural products, technologies, and services.
As part of the event’s closing ceremony, a workshop titled “Future Prospects of Agriculture” was conducted. The workshop delved into the secrets of the agricultural process and provided deeper insights into the industry. S.M. Quamruzzaman, Consultant (Horticulture) and Former Director of DAE (Add. Secretary), delivered the keynote speech, making the session interactive and engaging for attendees.
The Agro Biz Expo served as an excellent learning opportunity for students, allowing them to visit different booths, collect valuable information through brochures, catalogs, and business cards, and gain insights into market trends, pricing, and competition. Students were able to identify potential gaps or opportunities aligned with their business objectives.
Participating brands greatly benefited from the expo as well. They were provided with stalls to showcase and sell their products, enabling direct engagement with approximately 20,000 students. Prominent brands such as ACI, Kazi & Kazi Tea, Pran, Thanda Garam, Hand Touch, Cooper’s, Terrarium Dhaka, Wiz Forest, Natrico, Shobujer Utshaob, Regalia, Ezafee, and Khilgaon pitha ghar actively participated and interacted with the enthusiastic audience.
