NSU Young Economists’ Forum (YEF) is the official club partner for organizing the Hult Prize at NSU and has been arranging the preliminary round of this competition for three consecutive years, named “Hult Prize 2023 NSU onCampus Competition”. The Hult prize is an international social entrepreneurship competition encouraging the country’s youth to enhance their leadership and entrepreneurial capabilities by creating farms that address specific problems. Through this competition, aspiring innovators are born who aim to inspire the following age to see themselves as potential leaders with the power to alter their surroundings fundamentally.
Through this program, participants are offered seminars, activities, and the prestigious $1 million global startup award at UN Headquarters to assist the winning team in starting a social venture. In addition, the organizing committee has also given prize money of BDT 60 thousand for the preliminary round of the HULT prize. This year, team ‘Crosscheck’ won the first position, and respectively the 2nd and 3rd positions were taken by ‘Team Million Dollars’ and ‘Long Story Short.’ Moreover, the leading finalists have also been awarded a commendable certificate for their performance and will receive the advantages in nationally organized programs, and a chance to promote the university and the country on the international stage.
This year, 65 teams participated in this intra-university global competition on the topic of “Redesigning Fashion to be Sustainable.” On November 26, 2022, the organizing committee held the first workshop conducted by Md. Shihabuzzaman (Levi Strauss and Co.) and Sakib Khondoker (Unilever Bangladesh Ltd.), where participants were groomed about presentation skills. The second workshop was done before the final round, which was conducted by Farhat Chowdhury Zishan (The Daily Star). The program was divided into three parts, with 19 teams remaining in the first round and five teams remaining in the second round, and the grand finale between them was held on December 15, which was hosted by 2019 winning team members Md. Shihabuzzaman Mollick, and Sakib Khondoker.

In the finale, all 5 teams gave their presentation in front of a decorated judge panel consisting of Faiz Ibne Hossain (Lecturer, NSU), Dr. Farzana Nahid (Assistant Professor, NSU, and Senior News Presenter, NTV), Mashroor Faiyaz Khan (Brand Manager, BAT Bangladesh), Omar Nasif Abdullah (Lecturer, NSU), Sidratul Moontaha Chowdhury (Chapter Ambassador, Technovation and Diana Award Holder 2021) and Shafquat Ahmed (Head-Winning @ POS, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Beverages) who are also known as top business leaders and academics of Bangladesh. The judging panel gave their valuable feedback and asked a plethora of incisive questions to test the robustness of the finalist’s idea. Also, before the announcement of the winners, they gave insightful speeches to the teams and audience.
