Online Career Counseling Seminar Held at the University of Barishal

An online career counseling seminar was held on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 for students of the University of Barishal. 

The seminar was jointly organized by Kore Search, a leading job placement and skill development platform, and the Barishal University Business Club, a student-run organization that promotes business education and entrepreneurship. The goal was to provide guidance to students regarding job preparation, skills development, and future career planning.

The seminar had the presence of several distinguished speakers including:

  • Dr. Abdullah Al Masud, Associate Professor & Dean at the university’s Faculty of Business Studies
  • Shah MD Rijvi Rony, Chief Human Resources Officer at Runner Group
  • Kazi Naim, Founder & CEO of Kore Search

During the 3-hour long seminar held over Zoom, the speakers highlighted topics like resume writing, interview preparation, skills needed by employers, and how students can further develop themselves professionally. There was also a focus on extracurricular involvement and how students can showcase relevant skills to potential employers.

“Such seminars play a key role in assisting fresh graduates with placement preparation,” said Naim. “Through our specialized training programs, Kore Search aims to enhance the career potential of students.”

The seminar consisted of the following key segments:

  • Job Market Analysis – An overview of the current job market and hiring trends was provided. High-growth industries and changes due to technological disruption were discussed.
  • Resume Writing Workshop – Students were guided on creating effective, professional resumes that highlight relevant skills, achievements & experiences. Templates and examples were shared.
  • Interview Preparation Tips – Speakers shared insights into the interview process and how to best prepare for questions, case studies, and presentations. Ways to handle stress and exhibit confidence were discussed.
  • Skills Development Session – Guidance was provided on various skills students can develop like data analysis, digital marketing, coding, etc. to enhance their profile and prospects.
  • Q&A Session – Students had the opportunity to directly ask the speakers questions on their career concerns. Queries were fielded on work-life balance, startup jobs, further studies, etc.

The English news media partner for the event was Business Inspection BD. The seminar allowed over 500 registered students to gain meaningful insights into launching their careers after finishing university studies. Based on feedback, the students found it highly valuable.
