Among the ten major industries that contributed BDT 1,071.77 crore in revenue under the NBR’s VAT system in FY 2020–21 is the beverage industry. It is a sector that is developing rapidly. And it took just ten years for revenue to rise from BDT 158.05 crore in FY 2009-10 to BDT 733.75 crore in FY 2019-20. Despite the fact that there is a plethora of drinks on the market with various branding, names, and flavors, all of them are owned by a small number of large conglomerates. Besides globally recognized brands, the beverage industry also benefits from the efforts of smaller local businesses as well. However, it’s interesting to note that two of the market leaders produce nearly all of the most popular drinks, effectively capturing the entire market and leaving little room for competition.
So, in this article, we will be discussing the most successful beverage companies in Bangladesh as well as the most popular drinks produced by those companies. Plus, you will get to find out which company manufactures your favorite drinks.

Globe Soft Drink Ltd.
With a pharmaceutical background, Globe Soft Drink Ltd. was introduced into the beverage market in the year 2002. Uro was the first beverage brand from this company, which offered three assorted ranges of flavors: cola, lemon, and orange. This success inspired the company to introduce a new soda drink, Fizz Up, and mineral water, Alma, which also became very popular.
The company then introduced the energy drink, “Royal Tiger,” with innovation in taste and flavor. For its enviable taste and tonic effect, Tiger became the first-mover energy drink brand in the country. Another energy drink from Globe – Black Horse, has also become very popular among teenagers. Because of increased demand and a vast opportunity to export beverages, Globe set up one new production unit, AST Beverage Ltd., in 2006 at Naryangonj and started exports in 2007. Both the manufacturing plants use sophisticated and automated production lines of European origin and are designed to meet the international standard guidelines of HACCP for ISO, Intertek for Halal, and also other applicable guidelines to ensure the GMP norms in our products and processes.
Like the rest of the world, the people of Bangladesh also love soft drinks and other beverages. Hence, even though there are only a few beverage companies in the country, the market is not small by any means. Currently, the beverage industry is mostly dominated by Pepsi and Coca-Cola. However, things could change at any moment as all these beverage manufacturers are fighting tooth-and-nail to secure a place at the top spot.
