Banglalink Reported Highest Revenue Growth in The Last Six Years

Banglalink performed incredibly in 2021, with the fastest revenue rise in six years as the coronavirus pandemic supercharged the digital transformation of work, buying, education, and entertainment. The parent company of Banglalink Veon Ltd reported in a press release that last year, the revenue of Banglalink increased 5.1% per year to Tk 4,794 crore. 

Banglalink included 20 lakh more customers by prioritizing internet service in its strategy, which eventually took its customer base to 3.72 crores. It was evident in a drive-test conducted by the telecom regulator in 2021 to look into operators’ 4G internet speeds across the country.

Erik Aas, chief executive officer of Banglalink, said Banglalink continued to invest in its 4G network in the last quarter of 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2021, fourth-generation (4G) subscribers increased by 50.6 percent, accounting for 34.2 percent of Banglalink’s overall customer base.

In the October to December quarter, the operator saw an increase in revenue of 8.3% year on year to Tk 1,229. Data volumes increased by 71.5 percent year over year, resulting in a 23.8% increase in mobile data income in the third quarter.
