BUPDLC to Organize 'Devthon 3.0' for the Third Time

Bangladesh University of Professionals Development Leaders’ Club (BUPDLC) is about to launch one of its flagship events for the 3rd time, “DEVTHON 3.0” a case-solving competition for undergraduate students. Teams from different universities across the country are invited to showcase their innovative ideas for development in front of renowned development practitioners. The event is scheduled to commence from 16th-17th October 2022, with the purpose of empowering young enthusiasts to come up with innovative ideas. 

SM. Nazmus Sakib, honorable general secretary of BUPDLC expresses his planning for the upcoming mega event “DEVTHON 3.0” and intends to expand the club’s horizons. 

“Development case competition exposes students to real-world experiences, encourages them to take ownership of their learning, and helps them assimilate their ideas. During the process, students will strengthen their ability to think strategically and analyze the information practically. Devthon 3.0 will give the best experience for the development enthusiast people to think out of the box and contribute to the nation.”

Raisa Iftikhar, honorable president of BUPDLC said, “It’s my absolute honor to be a part of such a significant event that provides development thinkers a great platform to nurture their inherent potentials & get opportunities to solve real-life problems.”

The title sponsor of the event will be the international development organization “The Asia Foundation” and media partner The Financial Express & BIBD. Case solving competition will be conducted on the topic of “Building a Youth-inclusive Digital Economy in Bangladesh”. The poster presentation will take place on the prospect of “Digital Literacy, Digital Divide, and Access to Digital Services.” The grand finale will be held on the 17th of October, 2022, at Bijoy Auditorium in Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), in the presence of Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD, Honorable Vice Chancellor of BUP. The judging panel will consist of top-tier personnel from various Development Institutions. The total prize money would be worth 200,000 BDT. 

“DEVTHON 2.0” took place in 2021 and was sponsored by one of the leading international development organizations, Brac. A total of 35 teams from different universities across the nation participated in the event. Only 10 teams were selected for the online screening round. Followed by the Second Round, 10 teams constructed Project Proposal among them, 5 teams were selected for the Final Round. This year’s final battle was won by a team from BUP & they earned $100k prize money. Even if these competitions are rather new in nature, they can be fruitful as a source of learning and as a practice of gearing up young participants for future challenges.
