DSEX Hits All-time High record

The DSEX trading index crossed the 7000-point mark on 5th September 2021 of Dhaka Stock Exchange. DSEX, which is the prime index of DSE, rose 71.76 points or 1.02% that day and closed at 7052 points. This is the highest since the index’s was launched on 27 January 2013.

The trade index was in an upward trend from the beginning of 5th September 2021. Despite a brief sluggishness, the index maintained a general upward trend and closed at the record high.

The other two indices, DSE 30 and DSES also closed higher than the previous day. The DSE 30 index gained 37.13 points to close at 2,533 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) closed at 1,528 after gaining 19.98 points over the previous day.

Turnover increased by almost 16% over the previous day and stood at BDT 2,868 crore over the day. This was coupled with market capitalization hitting an all-time record high of BDT 56,92,000 crore crossing the previous record of BDT 56,37,000 crore of last business day.

Of the traded issues, 208 gained value while 130 ended lower with 37 issues remaining unchanged. ADN Telecom led the gainers list with a 10% increase. BEXIMCO had the highest turnover with shares worth BDT 1,83,000 crore changing hands.

CASPI, the general index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also gained 234 points to close at a high of 20,563 and the selective index CSCX gained 141 points to close at a record high of 12,324 points. Of the traded issues in CSE yesterday, 198 gained while 100 declined and 29 issues remained unchanged.
