BEPZA Economic Zone will Get $50m Investment from Four Firms

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) economic sector in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN) in Mirsarai, Chattogram is hoping to receive $50m funding from three foreign companies and one local firm. 

Yesterday at the Bepza office an agreement of leasing land took place. According to the deal, with the funding companies are planning to construct manufacturing units at the economic zone of Bepza. 

The companies are US-based Campex (BD) Ltd, China’s Fengqun Composite Material Company (BD) Ltd, Sri Lanka’s Univogue Garments Company Ltd, and Bangladesh’s TexTrim Labels Ltd.

Based on the agreement, Univogue Garments, which was given six plots, is to invest $36.49 million. Campex plans to invest $10 million in the production of camping equipment. Fengqun Composite plans to invest $2.22 million in the production of shoe accessories and packaging. TexTrim Labels will invest $1.27 million in the economic zone, where it has been allocated two plots, to develop a garment accessory and paper converting factory. 

Executive chairman of the Bepza, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, stated that they have received 666 applications against 539 industrial plots, which is very encouraging.
