Earth’s Ants & SEED Partnership: Catalyzing Climate Education & Environmental Literacy in Bangladesh

Uniting Global Expertise and Local Leadership to Advance Climate Education & Environmental Awareness Nationwide

Dhaka, Bangladesh – Earth’s Ants, A youth-led environmental organization based in Bangladesh, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Students for Environmental Education & Discovery (SEED), a nonprofit organization led by the scholars at Cornell University, headquartered in United States of America. This collaboration aims to significantly advance climate change education, sustainability awareness and environmental literacy across Bangladesh.

The international partnership strategically combines the global expertise of SEED in environmental education with profound local insights of Earth’s Ants to confront pressing climate and environmental challenges, with a primary focus on Bangladesh alongside the broader South Asian region. Through this partnership, Bangladesh becomes the first country to launch a structured K–12 climate education initiative under this international framework setting a new benchmark for our country.

One of the core objectives of the MoU is the joint development and localization of climate science and sustainability curricula in both Bangla and English. This ensures accessibility and cultural relevance for students and educators nationwide. The partnership will also foster a systematic exchange of research, educational resources and technical expertise; promoting evidence-based learning and strengthening community-level environmental education initiatives.

According to the agreement, Earth’s Ants and SEED will jointly organize workshops, seminars, teacher training programs and student awareness campaigns aimed at improving climate literacy, empowering youth and strengthening public understanding of environmental issues. Earth’s Ants will lead local coordination, implementation and stakeholder engagement across Bangladesh, while SEED will contribute to curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, technical guidance and evaluation support grounded in international best practices.

The MoU underscores a commitment to ethical collaboration, including robust provisions for child protection, safeguarding, data privacy and adherence to relevant local and international regulations. All co-developed educational materials will be recognized as shared intellectual property, ensuring their long-term use across both digital and printed platforms. SEED will further support implementation by providing high-quality printed educational and awareness materials alongside digital resources.

“Earth’s Ants is committed to advancing environmental awareness and sustainability through research and education-led community engagement. The partnership with SEED supports the integration of international climate education models into locally grounded initiatives across Bangladesh,” according to the organization.

In alignment with this approach, “SEED promotes climate literacy among students through organized, learner-focused environmental education. The collaboration with Earth’s Ants enables the organization to support the development of climate learning initiatives that are adapted to the local context in Bangladesh.”

Spanning three years of collaboration, this alliance underscores a mutual dedication to advancing climate education, youth engagement and sustainable impact. It leverages SEED’s worldwide knowledge with local implementation capacity of Earth’s Ants to pioneer a scalable model for environmental education and climate action across the South-Asian region.
